5 ways to help your kid have healthy teeth and gumsAs a parent, you have a central role in helping your child achieve peak oral wellness. Children can have a hard time keeping up with regular dental hygiene routines because they can be forgetful. This is where you need to be active in playing a supervisory role in ensuring that they are following the best dental health practices. There are several ways you can contribute to the maximum oral health of your child including:

Ensure that they brush their teeth

Even if they still have baby teeth, it is important to follow standard dental hygiene procedures. Baby teeth are crucial for the proper growth of their permanent teeth. Therefore, have your kid brush at least twice every day, and especially after meals.

Flossing

Together with brushing their teeth, you can teach your kid how to floss. This is important for children who have developed multiple teeth. Food can get stuck in between their teeth, and flossing is an effective technique to remove these food particles.

Limit Their Intake of Sugary Food

Your kid's teeth are delicate and can easily be eroded by acids. Sugary foods can increase the acidity levels in your child's mouth. Therefore, limit intake of candies, sweets, and cakes for healthy gums.

Topical Fluoride Treatment

Applying a small amount of fluoride on your kid's teeth will be important to strengthen the enamel of their teeth. Their teeth will therefore be secure against tooth decay and cavities.

Regular Dental Visits

You can also ensure healthy teeth and gums for your child by bringing them for regular dental checkups. Our dentists can detect any problems that may be developing and apply corrective treatments. In this way, your kid will avoid common dental issues and enjoy prime dental health.
